Specialist Log Supply for Restoration & Renovation

Construction companies and restoration specialists across Finland commission custom-sized replacement logs and beams from us, with strength grading by an authorized grader when required.

We maintain Finland’s most extensive stock of large-dimension, long-length old-growth pine logs for restoration and demanding custom work. Many of these logs have been air-dried in our atelier for several years, making exceptional dimensions and carefully seasoned material available even for the most demanding projects. This reserve also allows us to respond quickly to large or unusual orders.

We have supplied replacement logs and beams for major restoration projects including the House of the Estates for Senate Properties and the Prison Museum for the Finnish Heritage Agency / Rakennus Oy Antti J Ahola.

Our customers and partners in restoration and specialist timber work also include Restart Oy, Entisöinti Rinne, Fiskarin Laatupuu and Lintukorpi Oy.

Villa SoFiel

 

Overlooking Airisto in the Naantali Archipelago, Villa SoFiel is a complex of three handcrafted log buildings — the main house, sauna building and guest cabin.

The main house uses the Fan Assembly method developed by Timo Aro-Heinilä, in which the natural taper of the logs contributes directly to the geometry of the building. The changing dimensions of the tree thus become an active part of the architectural form.

Massive roof trusses give the interiors a strong structural presence, while the three separate buildings form a coherent ensemble in the archipelago landscape.

Villa SoFiel is currently offered for sale and remains available for short-term rental.

U3 Lodge

Located high on Utsuvaara near Levi, U3 Lodge is a three-storey handcrafted log lodge in the fell landscape of Finnish Lapland.
The building includes six en-suite bedrooms, a spa area and generous shared living spaces. Exceptionally large Nordic pine logs form the frame, complemented by blacksmith-forged square-head bolts and sliding plates that bring crafted metal detailing into direct dialogue with the natural log structure.
The project demonstrates how very large solid logs can be used in a contemporary building without losing the individuality and natural geometry of the material.

House Kivistö

We have handcrafted log frames for private homes in Helsinki, Turku and elsewhere across Finland.

At House Kivistö in Turku, contemporary architecture meets the structural logic of traditional log building. Large areas of glazing divide the massive log walls into distinct volumes, while exposed ceiling beams introduce a restrained reference to historic timber interiors.

The wedging lock notch brings together the demands of urban construction, precise connection detailing and traditional log-building principles. The result is a building in which old and new are not treated as opposites, but as parts of the same structural language.
